Hey y’all, this weekend, Spooney and I are headed to the Pismo Beach Clam Festival.
And no, that is not a euphemism.
Spooney, a native of
And I, being a native of Smartasserville, am looking forward to a weekend of sniggering at Spooney’s pronunciation of “chowder,” which falls somewhere between Mayor Quimby and the brothers Affleck.
See you next week!
Call it what you will, but I'm pretty sure that's a giant toilet seat.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm chowdah. The last time I was in Pismo, I was stuck in the rental house with a sleeping baby. I asked my husband to go out and bring back chowdah for lunch. He couldn't find any and brought back burritos instead. That pretty much sums up our relationship, now that I think about it.
ReplyDeleteSpooney is brilliant! Have your chowdah in SoCal... the weather is better!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, see you Monday!
You don't have to be from Mass to love a good clam.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I live in smartasserville too!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that "Pismo Beach " was one of the most hilariously-named places, ever since hearing Bugs Bunny refer to it as a child.
ReplyDeleteI'll take some bearded clam please.

ReplyDeleteI thought of Spooney saying chowder all weekend. I love the way he says "mahgahrita" too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the bday presents sis! Yay!
I've noticed that most "clam chowder" in SoCal has a distinct chicken-broth flavor. What's up with that?
ReplyDeleteJeff makes fun of the way I say "I saw it". I (and everyone else from New England) pronounce it "I sore it."
Mr.G: Hey, hi! How's it going? I miss Pops! Thanks for coming to visit and making a funny comment. Don't be a stranger.
ReplyDeleteKirby: Couldn't find chowdah in Pismo Beach? A town where every single restaurant has a huge sign in the window that says "Award-Winning Chowder"? Man, that's rough. You have my sympathies.
Bubbles: Unfortunately, although the chowdah was good, the weather has been a bit on the "on fire" side. Didn't affect us in P Beach, but the ride back into LA was a little hairy.
Cheer34: Maybe we could get Warren Buffet to write a song about it.
Bubs: I know! I was so worried as we were driving there that we were going to take a wrong turn at Albuquerque.
Dr.MVM: If that's what you're looking for, I would recommend Vegas instead.
GKL: You're welcome! I got your message. Yeah, Mahgahrita is one of my favorites, too.
Jess: Although I did suspend vegetarianism for the weekend so I could eat chowder with Rick, I don't really have any SoCal chowder experience to speak of. The stuff we had this weekend was very chock full of clams, though, and didn't taste like chicken stock.
I like when Rick says "horrible." It sounds like "hah-ribble." Also "hah-rah" for "horror."
Oh, the hahrah!
Like Bubs, I see the words "Pismo Beach" and I see Bugs jumping out of his hole and yelling, "Pismo Beach and all the clams we can eat!" hee hee
ReplyDeletethere has to be a giant clam joke
ReplyDeleteOh my god, Vikki! Jeff makes fun of my "horrible" ALL THE TIME! He walks around the house saying "Oh the hahrah! THE HAHRAH!"
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness, I make fun of the way he says "get". "Are you gonna GIT it? Maybe you should go GIT the item in question."
Then he counters with "Lookit!" (apparently I forGIT the "at" part)
Yes, we have a relationship built on mutual mockery. It's how we roll.
but wouldn't it be MORE interesting if it WERE a euphamism??
