Bells On Contest!

I love me some Gnarls Barkley.

They're performing on the Grammys Sunday. And I'm wondering what they will wear.

You can see what they wore the the MTV awards last year. They've also dressed as Napoleon Dynamite and Pedro, Cheech & Chong, Superman & Clark Kent, Freddie & Michael, and Malcolm McDowell in Clockwork Orange. I saw them on Conan dressed in towels and bathrobes, and somewhere else I can't remember they wore prep school uniforms. Just Google Gnarls Barkley if you don't know what I'm talking about.

So, what do you think they'll wear Sunday to sing their nominated song, Crazy?

Guess! Winner gets a prize of some kind, maybe. Maybe the prize will be that I WON'T comment on your blog for a whole month.

The band will dress as modern movie monsters. i.e. Freddy, Jason, Michael Meyers...

DBear: Clearly you have underestimated the Gnarls.

Dave: They DID that already! Jeez.

1. The Banana Splits
2. Kiss
3. The Beatles crossing Abbey Road
4. Devo (first album-- the yellow anti-radiation suits)
5. Spinal Tap-- "there's a fine line between genius and stupid, isn't there?"

And on the off chance I win, don't you dare not post on my blog.

P.S. You haven't lived until you've heard my ten year old stepdaughter walking around the house singing "Crazy."

okay, what is better than the pic of them as hunter thompson & his 'samoan' attorney? that's right, NOTHING. therefore the 'how will they top themselves' question is a trick, because it is clearly IMPOSSIBLE. i rest my case. (it's me, alex, by the way)

How about a Native American theme except w/ fluorescent colors and Hawaiian skirts...

Oh, wait, I think that's already been done by Outkast or something.

Well who the hell knew they were gonna go on as The Police? Or maybe airline pilots. I wasn't sure.

Okay, no one wins. Whew!

But... but the Police were once considered part of the punk movement. I know that's odd and it was even odd to me at the time because, come on, Sex Pistols and "Regatta de Blanc"? I didn't get it then, still don't.

I missed Gnarls, but I did see the awesome OK GO and their mummenchantz get ups. Freaky.

I think I should get a consolation prize for the best guess.

I dunno, Randy, I liked your guess, but I have to give the Best Guess award to Johnny Yen for the Banana Splits.

The people who referred to The Police as punk when they first came out were idiots then, and they're idiots now. But then, there were people who called Elvis Costello punk, too.

The genre was called New Wave, although by the time The Police hit, it was more properly referred to as "mainstream pop music."

Don't forget that Tom Petty got lumped in with punk and new wave.

And thanks for the award! I want to thank my mother, my father, my son, my stepdaughter, my wife, my ex-wives, my grandparents, my great-grandparents, my kindergarten, first, third and sixth grade teachers, all the kids in my second-grade class, Mary J. Blige, my attorney, the manager of my local grocery story, Gnarls Barkley, my son's siamese fighting fish "Joey Fishy", Mayor Daley, the Ramones, Led Zeppelin, my mechanic, that kid in my third grade class who shared his candy bar with me......
