Is it just me?

Or is anybody else out there really fucking sick of Rufus Wainwright?

First of all, after watching that horrible travesty of a Leonard Cohen documentary, I'm Your Man, the only strong feeling I walked away with, besides the fact that it was an amazing opportunity wasted, was "Wow, Rufus Wainwright sure seems like a dick."

Then I heard about his concert of Judy Garland covers, and I thought that although it seemed like a somewhat annoying career move, it was occuring on the east coast, and it was unlikely to affect me any further once I had rolled my eyes and uttered the obligatory "whatever."

But now, every time I hear that super lame, super self-indulgent "Do I Disappoint You?" song off his new album, I just wish I could reach through my speakers and slap that smug little self-satisfied smirk right off his face. It's wretched.

And it sucks, because I love his dad so much. His dad fucking rules. In fact, if you listen to the Loudon Wainwright III live album, So Damn Happy, you can hear me laughing in the audience.

He's Liza Minelli now? Because I could totally picture him as Lucille Two.

Reading this post is about the most I've ever thought of Rufus Wainwright.

So it is just me. Okay, then.

Rufus Wainwright has one song I really love -- "One Man Guy." Other than that. . .blech.

Oh, and are you serious about the laughing? Because that is REALLY cool!

It's not just you. I actually liked the movie but was pretty sickened by Rufus. Plus, how much reverence is there for Leonard if Rufus, his mother, sister, aunt are all reading off lyric sheets while they sing? Rat bastards.

Megan: During the concert at Largo, where I sat in the front row, Loudon was intro-ing a song and was being really funny. I was laughing so hard that he actually stopped to look at me laughing, which got him a bigger laugh from the audience, and which caused me to laugh so hard I snorted. "Hey, you just snorted!" Loudon observed - another huge laugh.

That exchange is not on the record, but you do hear a bit of the intro and you can hear me laughing. I wasn't aware of being on the record until the friend that I went to the concert with called me and told me. I know it's lame, but because he's such a special artist to me, I'm actually pretty fucking thrilled to be on the record, even if I do sound like an idiot.

About the "I'm Your Man" movie, too much of the damned tribute concert, waaaaay too much Bono (like Vikki says, he's in every freakin' music bio ever made), and not even close to enough of Leonard himself.

Oh yeah & waaaaay too much Rufus also!
