Al, it just makes me want you all the more

NYT on Al Gore's movie, and the speculation about a presidential run it is fueling:

"I wanted it, and it was not to be," said Al Gore, the former vice president and two-time presidential candidate. "I am not pursuing it. I have been there, and I have done that."...

..."Why should I run for office?" Mr. Gore asked, the impatience evident in his voice. "I have no interest in running for office. I have run for office. I have run four national campaigns. I have found other ways to serve my country, and I am enjoying them."...

...To hear Mr. Gore talk about the state of politics and journalism today — this from a man who has a history in both professions — it is hard to imagine him ever running for office again. Politics, he said, has become a game of meaningless, mindless battles, conducted by unscrupulous methods and people, designed to transform even the most serious policy debates into sport.

That bastard. He knows what it does to me when he plays hard to get.

I don't know about y'all, but I am seriously being blinded by a wonky white-hot desire for a Gore run.

Gore in '08 gives me an election erection.

After the 2000 election, I left the Green party and re-registered as a Democrat. What sent me over the edge was the Nader/Greens saying there was no difference between Bush and Gore.
....ummmmmm, right.
I'm sure President Gore would have lied and started and illegal war in Iraq, wiretapped our phones without a warrant, gone on vacation as New Orleans flooded (the list goes on and on, you get the vibe).

He looks tanned, rested and ready - just like Nixon, a vice president who lost due to fraud when he ran for president on his own, retired from politics, and came back as the new Nixon 8 years later and won. So, yeah, I'll take the "new Gore." Much preferable to the new Nixon, and besides the global warming thing -- hey, he did invent the internets.

That picture represents one of the Truly Weird Moments in Politics. Not a Presidential kiss at all, more like making out. After that, no wonder people said he was "stiff" or "wooden," heh, heh.

Still, the Republicans have nobody for 2008, and the nation may be getting tired of them anyway, and if Karl Rove isn't behind bars by then he may just decide to take his marbles and go home, so maybe Gore could win.

I think he'd be a fine president. I just don't know about him as a candidate.

Well damn, grow the beard again, put 'em in a flannel shirt and ah'd vote for 'em. Without the beard he looks like a naked mole rat; with the beard he rugged and believable -- in a sort of Prof. Indiana Jones sort of way . . .

I understand the parallel you're trying to draw, Madison Guy, but it makes me cringe every time someone suggests that Nixon only lost because of the corruption in Chicago voting in 1960.

Yes, there was widespride corruption in Chicago voting, and yet Nixon never asked for a recount in Illinois. Why was that? Because his guys played just as dirty downstate.

So the best we can do is call Illinois in '60 a draw, and thank our lucky stars it was Kennedy in office and not Nixon when the military found those missiles in Cuba.

As for a Gore run...so much depends on the campaign management. I still can't look at Donna Brazile on a talk show without wanting to fucking throttle her. What a waste. Kerry's campaign, too. What a bunch of hapless tools on that one.

And I can't help it Larry, that picture is hot. Gore is definitely on my list, baby.
