C'mon, why don't they just call it the "We Hate Fags" amendment?

So are the Democrats just going to let them kick our ass on this heinous, petty, reprehensible excuse of an issue every election year in perpetuity throughout the universe?

I'd say the odds are pretty good on that.

GWB, today:
The union of a man and woman in marriage is the most enduring and important human institution. For ages, in every culture, human beings have understood that marriage is critical to the well-being of families. And because families pass along values and shape character, marriage is also critical to the health of society. Our policies should aim to strengthen families, not undermine them. And changing the definition of marriage would undermine the family structure.

You want a bet with longer odds? How about "Will the press ever call Bush on the fact that the American public does not share his priorities?"

Because, contrary to what the president told us this morning, gay marriage doesn't even make the list of what Americans are concerned about.

The sad thing is that concern for the environment doesn't even show up on the list. For so-called intelligent beings, we are a pathetic self-involved species.

Apparently he's unaware there's something like a 50% divorce rate, and that "family unit" thing they love so much doesn't really exist.

It seems to me that there are plenty of "non-sacred" unions out there already (Britney & K-Fed spring to mind). Even to small-minded twits like those that support shit like this, it's hard to imagine how they envision gay marriages being any worse now, really.

I remember after the re-elect of Dubbya, John Stewart had it down pat. I am relying on foggy memory, but it was along the lines of:

The brilliance of the republicans is that they have somehow convinced half of america that is isn't important that we are trashing our environment, went to war on a lie, or have an increasing gap between the rich and the have nots. But the most important thing to worry about is 2 guys fucking.
